Things I'd tell you about making space for what truly matters if I wasn't worried about hurting your feelings...
1. You can't change your life without being willing to feel uncomfortable. If you're waiting until change feels easy, safe and convenient, you could be waiting forever.
2. Some people won't like the version of you who starts setting boundaries. Particularly those who benefited from you not having any.
3. Not everything keeping you stuck is outside your control. Some of it is the choices you keep making, the conversations you're avoiding and the stories you're telling yourself.
4. Your comfort zone isn't always a comfortable place. Sometimes it's just familiar. And familiar can feel safer than the unknown, even when it's making you miserable.
5. You might be calling it protecting your peace when you're actually avoiding discomfort. There's a difference between healthy boundaries and hiding from the things that could help you grow.
6. Being needed isn't the same as being valued. And making yourself indispensable to everyone else can be a very effective way of avoiding your own needs.
7. You can't keep saying yes to everything and wondering why there's no space left for you. Every yes costs something. Sometimes that something is you.
8. You don't need everyone to understand your decisions. Other people's discomfort with your growth isn't automatically a sign you're doing something wrong.
9. You might have to disappoint people you love. Not because you don't care about them, but because caring about them shouldn't require abandoning yourself.
10. You already know some of the things you need to change. You just haven't decided whether you're willing to deal with the consequences of changing them.
11. Being busy can be a brilliant hiding place. When you're constantly doing, fixing, helping and achieving, there's very little opportunity to ask yourself whether you're actually happy.
12. You don't get to create a different life while fiercely protecting every part of your current one. Something has to give.
13. You can be grateful for the life you have and still want something different. Those two truths can exist together. You don't have to justify wanting more.
14. You are allowed to outgrow things that once felt right. Relationships, roles, expectations, ambitions and even versions of yourself.
15. Nobody is coming to hand you permission to put yourself on the list. At some point, you have to give it to yourself.
